Whilst the QUAD 33 remains a wholly analogue preamplifier, today's music collections are increasingly digital. Beyond wireless streaming and high-resolution audio, the WS3 facilitates TV integration, digital music libraries and external digital sources through one elegant interface, one carefully engineered conversion stage, and one unmistakably QUAD aesthetic. Streaming services, HDMI connectivity, CD transports and computers all demand high-quality digital conversion before analogue amplification can reveal their full potential. The WS3 has been conceived specifically to fulfil this role, working alongside the QUAD 33 and 303 as the dedicated digital front end of the system. Rather than compromise the analogue integrity of the 33 by integrating digital circuitry within it, QUAD has chosen the more purist solution – separate where it matters, integrated where it benefits.

Beneath the elegant simplicity of the WS3 lies streaming technology developed in partnership with Silent Angel – specialists whose network audio platform has earned a reputation for stability, performance and uncompromising fidelity. The WS3 combines Silent Angel's architecture with QUAD's own analogue and digital circuit designs to create a streamer worthy of the QUAD name.
The accompanying QUAD control application provides immediate access to streaming services, local libraries and network storage, supporting Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, TuneIn Radio, AirPlay 2, DLNA and USB storage, alongside full Roon Ready certification. Whether connected via Gigabit Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi, operation is fast, intuitive and dependable – because the technology should never stand between the listener and the music.
Reference Digital Conversion
Where the DAC Architecture Meets Musical Transparency
Digital audio is only as convincing as the analogue signal ultimately presented to the amplifier – and that is where many modern streamers fall down. The WS3 employs the acclaimed ESS ES9038Q2M Reference DAC, partnered with carefully developed clock architecture, dedicated power regulation and QUAD's own analogue output circuitry. Drawing upon proven implementation from the QUAD 3, the architecture includes ESS HyperStream, Time Domain Jitter Eliminator and precision upsampling prior to conversion.
All incoming PCM data is upsampled to either 352.8kHz or 384kHz, moving digital artefacts well beyond the audible spectrum and allowing the DAC to operate at its optimum. The result is greater low-level resolution, improved transient precision and a natural sense of musical space – allowing instruments and voices to exist effortlessly within the soundstage.

One Hub for Every Input, One Standard of Quality
The WS3 extends beyond network streaming to become the central digital interface for the complete music system. Alongside comprehensive network connectivity, it incorporates optical, coaxial and USB-C digital inputs together with HDMI ARC, enabling televisions, CD transports, games consoles and other digital components to benefit from QUAD-quality digital conversion. Multiple digital sources are managed from one elegant front panel, one remote handset and one integrated display.
It is equally at home reproducing a high-resolution studio master from Qobuz as it is revealing the subtle detail of a favourite concert, album or movie. Every source, regardless of its origin, receives the same meticulous processing – because every listening experience deserves the Closest Approach to the Original Sound.

The industrial design of the WS3 has been developed as a companion rather than an imitation. Sharing the proportions, precision-machined controls, understated LED illumination and refined visual language of the QUAD 33, the WS3 appears as though it has always belonged within the system. A large high-resolution LCD display extends functionality whilst preserving the clean, architectural appearance that defines the new generation of QUAD electronics.
Every control, display element and material has been carefully considered to create a unified system rather than a collection of individual components. Together with the QUAD 33 and QUAD 303, it forms a complete system whose visual harmony reflects its engineering integrity.

Despite the sophistication of its technology, operation remains refreshingly straightforward. Network setup is quick, source selection is intuitive and daily operation is effortless, allowing listeners to concentrate on music rather than menus. Every aspect of the WS3 has been developed according to the enduring QUAD philosophy that technology exists only in service of musical enjoyment – streaming, digital conversion and connectivity are not ends in themselves, but carefully engineered tools that bring listeners closer to the original performance.
Pure Analogue Output, Versatile Connection
From Digital Precision to Analogue Integrity
Following digital conversion, the audio signal is presented through carefully engineered analogue circuitry designed to preserve tonal neutrality, dynamic expression and musical realism. Variable RCA and balanced XLR outputs allow the WS3 to operate as a dedicated digital source with the QUAD 33 or, where required, as a digital preamplifier connected directly to a suitable power amplifier, delivering 2.05Vrms via RCA and 4.1Vrms via XLR. A front-panel headphone output supports 20–600 ohm loads, providing a complete personal-listening route without an additional amplifier.
The WS3 delivers an analogue output worthy of the QUAD name – pure, uncoloured and dynamically expressive – allowing the 33 and 303 to perform exactly as intended, and bringing the listener closer to the original performance.
