Every component within ELEGAN 1 has been selected to serve one purpose: faithful music reproduction.
At its heart is a precision-engineered 165mm woven Kevlar bass/midrange driver, developed to combine low mass with increased rigidity and controlled self-damping. This carefully balanced construction enables accurate transient response, low coloration and exceptional clarity throughout the critical midrange.
The bass performance of ELEGAN 1 reaches down to 44Hz, quite astonishing for a loudspeaker of this size.
High frequencies are reproduced by a 25mm fabric dome tweeter, integrated within a precision waveguide that controls dispersion for consistent tonal balance across a wide listening area. Whether seated directly between the loudspeakers or enjoying music from elsewhere in the room, ELEGAN 1 maintains stable imaging and a natural sense of space.
The result is seamless integration between drivers and a presentation that feels coherent, effortless and remarkably lifelike and full of body.
Built to Control Resonance
A great loudspeaker begins with a stable foundation.
The ELEGAN 1 cabinet is constructed from high-density MDF and extensively reinforced with strategically positioned internal bracing to minimise unwanted resonance. By reducing cabinet vibration, more of the amplifier's energy is devoted to reproducing the recording itself rather than exciting the enclosure.
At the rear, QUAD's carefully developed Airflow™ bass reflex system employs a precision-profiled port to reduce turbulence and improve airflow. The result is bass that is clean, articulate and surprisingly deep for a loudspeaker of this size, extending confidently while maintaining speed and control.
